About

What this blog is for

The KiThumbs blog is about one thing: YouTube thumbnails that win the click at a glance. How they work, how to make them, how to measure them, and how to refresh the ones that are quietly losing clicks on videos you published months or years ago.

We write for creators who want to understand their packaging rather than copy the latest trend, and for the agencies and teams who handle thumbnails for other people’s channels. Every guide aims to leave you with something you can do on your own channel this week.

Who writes it

The blog is written by Paul Lowe, a specialist in refreshing YouTube thumbnails guided by click-through rate data. Before writing about thumbnails, Paul spent years as a video editor for small channels, which is where he learned that the thumbnail chosen in a hurry on upload day often decides a video’s fate long after everyone has moved on.

His approach is simple: look at the data first, change one thing at a time, measure fairly, and write down what you learn. Every article ends with a concrete test you can run on your own channel.

Paul also writes Win at a Glance, a weekly newsletter about thumbnails: what makes one win the click, real examples taken apart, and one experiment to try each week. It is launching soon, and you can join the waitlist on the newsletter page.

What KiThumbs does

KiThumbs is a tool for YouTube creators and agencies. It tells you which backlog videos are losing clicks, why they deserve a refresh, and how to generate stronger variants with real YouTube signals. It keeps the old and new thumbnails and the before and after numbers together, so every change becomes a lesson.

You can try the free Thumbnail Roaster without an account, or start with KiThumbs.

How we write

The blog is published by the team behind KiThumbs, which means we have a commercial interest in the topic. We mention KiThumbs where it is genuinely relevant, and we try to make every guide useful whether or not you ever use it. Our editorial policy explains how articles are researched, how we use AI tools and how we handle our own products in comparisons.
