Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains how KiThumbs collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit kithumbs.com, read this blog, join our newsletter waitlist or use the KiThumbs app at app.kithumbs.com (together, the “Services”).

KiThumbs is operated by Innovative Kits Production (“KiThumbs”, “we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@kithumbs.com.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google shares with us, such as your name and profile picture.
  • Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by our payment provider, which acts as merchant of record. We receive information about your plan, payment status and country, but we do not receive or store your full card details.
  • Images and content. Thumbnails, photos and other images you upload, descriptions and prompts you write, and the thumbnails and variants generated for you.
  • Newsletter and waitlist signups. Your email address, the page where you signed up and, if you choose, your preferences about what we send you.
  • Communications. Messages you send us by email or through support channels.

Information from connected services

If you connect a YouTube channel to KiThumbs, we access channel and video information that you authorize through Google, such as video titles, thumbnails, impressions, click-through rate, views and retention metrics. We use this information only to provide the features you use, such as identifying videos worth refreshing and showing before and after results. You can revoke this access at any time from your Google account settings.

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not sell this information, use it for advertising, or allow humans to read it except with your permission, for security purposes, to comply with law, or in aggregated and anonymized form for internal operations.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data. Pages visited, features used, and the date and time of your activity.
  • Device and technical data. IP address, browser type, operating system, language and approximate location derived from the IP address.

On kithumbs.com and this blog we use privacy-friendly analytics that do not use advertising cookies. In the app we use product analytics to understand how features are used. See our cookie policy for details.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate and maintain the Services, including generating thumbnails and analyzing channel performance at your request.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Send service messages, such as account confirmations, security notices and changes to these policies.
  • Send newsletters or product news you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in every email.
  • Understand how the Services are used, fix problems and improve features.
  • Protect the Services, our users and us against fraud, abuse and security threats.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on the performance of our contract with you, your consent (which you can withdraw at any time), our legitimate interests in running and improving the Services, and compliance with legal obligations.

3. AI processing

KiThumbs uses artificial intelligence services to analyze thumbnails and generate images. When you use these features, the images, prompts and related information needed for the request are sent to AI providers that process them on our behalf. We choose providers whose terms do not allow them to use this data to train their models for others, and we do not use your uploaded photos to train models.

Please only upload images that you have the right to use, including the consent of any person who appears in them.

4. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers who process it on our behalf, such as hosting, database and file storage, payment processing, email delivery, analytics and AI processing. They may use it only to provide their services to us.
  • With Google, when you choose to sign in with Google or connect a YouTube channel.
  • For legal reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights, property or safety of KiThumbs, our users or others.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case the information would remain subject to this policy.

5. International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States and countries in the European Union. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.

6. How long we keep information

  • Account information and content are kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize them within a reasonable period, except where we must keep information for legal reasons.
  • Connected channel data is kept while the connection is active and deleted when you disconnect the channel or delete your account.
  • Billing records are kept for the periods required by tax and accounting law.
  • Newsletter and waitlist addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Support messages are kept as long as needed to resolve your request.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of some places, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and certain US states, have additional rights under local law.

To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@kithumbs.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Third party links

The Services may link to websites and services we do not control. Their own privacy policies apply to them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the date on this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app.
